Our History
1954 | Young Trucks is Born
In October of 1954, Herbert (Herb) and Nellie Young, with sons Richard and Robert, formed a new Company. “Young White Trucks, Inc.” was appointed as a dealer for White and Autocar Trucks in Stark County and surrounding areas. The original organization had six employees including the owners.
1966 | Growth, Relocation & The Second Generation
Growing to 15 employees, the company needed more space and relocated to Perry township. Here, Herb’s sons Richard and Robert established themselves as the second-generation of leaders.
1980 | Premier Body Shop Acquisition
To grow our business offerings, JayMac Body and Frame was purchased in 1989 and continues to serve as one of the few premier heavy-duty body shops in Ohio.
1996 | Third-Generation Leadership Begins
In 1996, Richard Young’s son, Craig, and Robert’s son, Bob, became the third-generation members of the Young family to lead the company.
2005 | Young Leasing & Young Trailer Shop Established
In 2005 Young Trucks re-entered the leasing business with a new company called Young Leasing, Inc. and about the same time expanded our offerings by adding the Young Trailer Shop.
2012 | A Facility Like No Other
In 2012, we entered the natural gas truck service business and established Ohio's largest natural gas certified service facility.
2015 - 2018 | Elite Certifications & Truck Dealer of The Year Nomination
From 2015 to 2018, the company sought and earned elite certifications from its OEM partners ensuring unmatched customer service and efficiency every time a truck comes in for maintenance or repair.
2018 also marked the third time Young Truck Sales was nominated as a finalist in the Truck Dealer of the Year competition. Craig Young and the dealership were named in the top seven finalists of the more than 2,300 around the country nominated - the culmination of a lifelong commitment to the business, its customers, and team members.
2020 | Fourth-Generation Leadership Begins
Between 2020 and 2021, Young Trucks transitioned leadership responsibility from the third to the fourth generation of the Young family. The next-generation team includes Bob Young's sons, Ryan R. Young, who took the helm as president, and Adam J. Young, vice president of fixed operations. And Craig Young's son, Zach S. Young, vice president of technology and leasing, and son-in-law, Justin Candea, vice president of truck sales. Craig Young and Bob Young continue to be involved in the organization as chairman and secretary of the board, respectively.
2023 | Young Volvo Becomes First Volvo Trucks Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealership in Ohio
In December of 2022, Young Volvo completed the required training and certification program to become the first Volvo Trucks Certified EV dealership in Ohio. Volvo Trucks North America President, Peter Voorhoeve, said “adding our tenth state to the Volvo Trucks Certified EV Dealer network is the perfect way to close out a year that has seen significant expansion of the electromobility ecosystem that is necessary to support battery-electric trucks.”
Today, Young Trucks operates as one of the most comprehensive commercial truck dealerships in Ohio and works to keep trucks on the road and moving America forward with essential goods and services. With an eye on the future, the fourth-generation leaders are laying the groundwork for new technologies, expanded facilities and capabilities, additional product lines, and more.
